Happy cat, flowers, chips and salsa...

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I've been pretty busy and running on empty. I'm going to try to be better about posting, so here it goes. This past Saturday I got together with my best friend and we just had a day. The weather was perfect and it finally felt like spring. Our first adventure: off to our favorite greenhouse in town, and yes I have forgotten the name. It was perfect! Every time I go I insantly feel better, how can you not.

It's a good thing all I have is a stoop and not even a stoop, I have landing that barely fits two people. So alas I can not garden or try to have a green thumb. But it's good I would have spent way too much money that I don't have.

Ahhhhhh.... I could go there every weekend and never get board. Well after we had a marvelous expedition we decided it was fitting to grab some local chips and salsa and settle in for a movie at her house. So we did just that. We ate, we talked and laughed, we watched Precious (and yes it may have seemed a somewhat of an odd choice of movie for such a lovely spring day but we both love good movies and this one was great, everyone should go and watch it), However I must introduce you to someone very special. Now my friend has this cat and she's not your ordinary cat, and I know people say that all the time about their feline friends but I really do mean that this cat is pretty much a person just with 4 legs, fur and a minor language barrier.

Her name Isadora, prerogative: eating, sleeping, demanding all attention, being mischievous, and knowing what's up. Needless to say she's one happy cat.

She's the bees knees if you ask me and she never lets you forget it. You can have whole conversations with her even though they're slightly one sided. She's a bit of a diva and definatly a Mama's girl, and she knows how to play it cool.

 

Peekaboo I see you! She was in her box when I took this, just moments before she was whirling her paws of fury through this hole trying to get at my camera. I think she figured out what I was doing and decided to give my her I'm in serious thought pose. Well done! All in all a great Saturday!!

Timing

The right time, the perfect time, the only time, forgotten time... How do we judge our lives accordingly? I find myself constantly asking the question when. When will I reach my goal, when will I have enough money, when will I find time to be alone and create. I often feel my life is stalled, as if I'm wadding in the ocean but the tide never washes me away. I want to be consumed, I want to be bombarded with life, instead I'm stuck between the old me and the new me. Held back partly of my own doing and of circumstances, insecurities, money, responsibility, and time.

My goal one day is to be my own boss, to create and be inspired everyday, to set my own time, and to live the life I want. Everyday I take a step closer, inching my way to my dreams. It helps to remind myself of all I've accomplished and how close I am to my goals, but sometimes when your stuck at your 8-5 Mon-Fri day job and all you want to do is be creative no amount of  reminders can help. One of my biggest problems comes about at said day job, all of a sudden I'll have some creative inspiration for a new painting or drawing or piece of jewelry but there's nothing I can do about it. By the time I get home there's a million other things to do and all of my creative energy has flown out the window. How inconvenient my creativity is when I don't have time on my side. So you will know how delighted I was the other weekend when I had a spark of inspiration and I had time to put it to some use. The end result relief... Ahhhhhh finally creative satisfaction. The following drawing was created using charcoal, pen and marker on canvas.

Color Therapy

Happy Friday everyone!! It's been a long week... and that was before it snowed yesterday. Not to mention it's supposed to snow today and tomorrow too. Needless to say it's been a bit gloomy here. So I thought what better to do then to showcase some bright and beautiful designs from Etsy. A little color therapy is what I need and some warm sunshine. As I get closer and closer to summer I'm left with a quit hefty desire to be drenched in warm bright colors, so here are some of my favorites I hope you enjoy.

Vintage Inspiration

So the other day I went to a local antique shop called Granny's Attic, it's this huge old building almost a block long filled to the brim with treasures and curiosities. I can spend hours and hours in there and still not see everything. I was hoping to find some inspiration to redecorate my apartment, and I got a few ideas. But it's hard when you really aren't aloud to change anything like paint or a orange and  brown 70's  carpet that, lets face doesn't go with much. Oh well at least I got a start and some great photos. Here are some of the highlights. It seems though no matter what I do with my apartment it's never going to be what I really want... a place of my own. Anyway on to inspiration!

I keep telling myself that one day I'll have a home of my very own and I can do with it what I want. Well I guess until then I'll just have to make do with my 70's carpet and white walls.

Feature Friday!

One of the best parts about spring and summer is the shedding of ones clothes... both literally and figuratively. spring is a symbol of renewal and new beginnings. In summer we bath in the light and warmth of the sun; and become stronger for it. It's all about being new and being you.

Spring and summer is an excellent time to show off new fashions; I myself am a newcomer to the fashion world and for the first time in my life I'm looking forward to finding new ways of expressing myself through art and of course fashion. I've always gone for the comfortable look, not necessarily by choice but rather a lack of self confidence. While perusing the many incredible artists on Etsy I've been overwhelmed by the talent and the creativity that these artist share. I have an ever growing wish list of wants and I wanted to share them with all of you. I decided to create Feature Fridays where I can share some of the wonderful artists on Etsy.

So without further adieu my first Feature Friday: I have always been a fan of the all to comfortable T-shirt, now some may say that a regular t-shirt isn't fashion forward but I beg to differ. The following artists prove that you don't have to sacrifice comfortable for fashion. If I could I'd have closet full of these wonderful tees I would and hopefully one day I will. Oh spring thank goodness your hear! Finally the sun is out and I now feel that I can be productive. So seeing how it's been about a month since I updated my Etsy shop and because I'm a smart cookie I took a few days off from my day job I figured I put that time to good use. So here's my latest, it's a wire wrapped crystal pendant. Perfect for spring and summer.

As for the rest of my day I think I'm going to bike to one of the local used book stores and get started on some summer reading and maybe do some laps at YMCA. Can't forget to workout even if I am on vacation.

Dog Days are Over....

Finding new music is like when your little and you go digging in the dirt, and amist the grass stains and muddy dirt under your finger nails you find a pretty rock and even though other people may only see it as just another rock to you it's treasure. That's how I feel about discovering new music, sometimes you have to wade through a bunch of dirt to get to the good stuff. Granted I'm not the only one who finds this band a treasure, but none the less I've very happy I found them. I stumbled apon Florence and The Machine a few months ago and all I can say is it's just great, listen for yourself.
